  2013年的水冷大鳥終於在德國科隆摩托車展終於正式發表,這款R1200GS,排氣量為1,170c.c.,該引擎最大的特點為冷卻系統採用空冷、水冷並行的方式。

再介紹大鳥前先囉嗦一下有關BMW的R系列:每一部車都有自己的設計概念,沒有好與壞更沒高下對錯,只是觀點不同而已,在我眼裡每部車都是好車只是每人需求不同。R系列算是BMW的一個長青代表之一我個人對R系列的觀點是一部很機械的車與機械上設計的創意,我通常會去注意車體的設計多於性能的數據.....

R系列我第一眼會注意到的,是它「沒有車架」。引擎後方鎖著細細的副車架,上面可以坐人、掛行李等等。引擎前方長了一根犀牛角,角上鎖著前懸吊。整部車最重要的結構體,就是那顆大引擎也身兼車架。
接下來,不像前叉的前叉。竟然有搖臂,長像一般機車的後懸吊也像一般汽車前懸掛的A臂。這是bmw的專利,telelever。操控的獨特性是特色之一。缺點:重。 
引擎後面是軸傳動。以前BMW主要市場是在旅行車,軸傳動已經幾乎成為旅行車標準配備了。免調張力,保養週期長,耐用,唯一的缺點還是一樣:重。連接後輪與引擎的有兩根,粗的是搖臂、傳動軸藏在裡面,還有一根細的連桿,那就是另一個bmw的招牌paralever。操控上的優越,不要小看下面那一根,那可使整個後懸掛上下保持垂直運動。這也就是我說BMW機車很像汽車的一個特徵,它實在很像汽車的雙A臂(機車側面看來就像汽車正面前輪懸掛)。缺點:重。

引擎上方有個和汽車一樣的發電機,也是皮帶拉動的。這種發電機,發電量大、電壓穩定、壽命長,也成為旅行車的標準配備了。缺點:重。變速箱也跟汽車一樣是和引擎分離的,拆變速箱不需要下引擎。缺點:重。
R系列引擎配置像傳統縱置引擎的汽車一樣也是縱置接一根傳動軸延伸至後輪,有別於一般橫置引擎配置的機車....BMW早期的K系列直列4缸引擎也有類似縱置接一根傳動軸延伸至後輪....

左把手,付有一個"飛輪"類似滑鼠的功能,主要是用於控制設定行車電腦,早先已運用其他旅行車款...可能是BMW的規格品以後會逐漸用於其他車系,不過GS這種要上山下海的全功能旅行車用這類花俏的電子配件不知是否適合??   不知是否有"全簡配"的車種可選??應可省不少$$$....

GS那塊板子我個人覺得很突兀...這主要是修飾內部的熱交換器,GS字體正上方口字型為引擎進氣口,此設計可增加涉水的深度。
